Technical Hints and Basic Troubleshooting Tips
Here are just a few technical hints and tips to help with product selection. For more detailed information, see the individual product pages to view PDF specification sheets, technical product drawings and installation instructions.
Isolating Valves
We strongly recommend that all taps be installed with isolating valves. Using an isolating valve makes routine maintenance quick and easy. It is also an effective way to control water pressure and temperature should you need to.
Sensor Toilet Flush Valves (No Cistern)
A dynamic flushing pressure of at least 350kPa is crucial for effective elimination. These valves have a high WELS water rating and use a small amount of water, so the pressure of the water is the key to optimal flush. We strongly recommend 4-star flush valves to be installed with an approved 4-star WELS toilet suite, if you are retrofitting paired with a toilet of lesser star rating, we suggest you use our 3-star WELS alternative (ET4-7.3).
Smart Demand Urinals
The sensor is 'smart demand urine sensing' it detects the vibration of liquid flowing on the urinal surface and is attached to the rear underside of the ceramic urinal. Flush and distance settings are pre-set on manufacture.
Basic Troubleshooting
All our products contain electronic components which can sometimes act in an unpredictable way (think about your PC). Every product is tested immediately prior to dispatch so a faulty product is highly unlikely. The most common issues are listed below but more detailed technical hints and information is required for some products. For more detailed troubleshooting advice, see our Troubleshooting Page.
Common Issues - Taps
Initial Checks
Check Water Supply
Unplug all cables, including the plug between the battery box and the solenoid, leave unplugged for 5 minutes (this gives the electronics a chance to reset) before reconnecting everything carefully
Check sensor window is clean and unobstructed
Check batteries are installed correctly, re-install and check connections
Consider replacing batteries (even when the tap is mains powered) as this highlights any fault with power supply/outlet
If the red light is indicating when hands are in the activation zone, you can hear the solenoid clicking but no water is coming out; solenoid valve is blocked or obstructed. Clean valve and retest.
PLEASE NOTE
If there is a red light showing or flashing, this indicates that unit is functioning correctly but there may not be sufficient power to activate the solenoid. A flashing red light indicates that the batteries need replacing.
Common Issues - Urinals
Initial Checks
Check water and power supply
If battery operated - check batteries are installed correctly, re-install and check connections
Consider replacing batteries (even when flush valve is also mains powered) as this highlights any fault with power supply/outlet
Unplug all cables, leave unplugged for 5 minutes (this gives the electronics a chance to reset) before reconnecting everything carefully
Check sensor is clean, secure and unobstructed
Clean the filter and/or solenoid
If flow is not sufficient or is too high, adjust water pressure
NOTE
If red light is on or flashing, this indicates that unit is functioning correctly, although there may not be sufficient power to activate the solenoid. A flashing red light indicates that batteries are low and need replacing.
